Satellite Notes for 1800UTC Chart on 19 March 2018 Issued at 6:08 am EDT Tuesday on 20 March 2018 Severe Tropical Cyclone "Marcus" (Category 4) is located offshore from the northwest Kimberley coast and is moving westwards. Heavy rain and thunderstorm areas are occurring with this system. The monsoon trough extends from "Marcus" across the Arafura Sea to a low pressure near the Torres Strait and further to the Solomon Sea. Showers and storms are active about the Top End, Gulf of Carpentaria and Cape York Peninsula in Queensland. Further south, a cold front is moving across Victoria and a large area of speckled cloud, with isolated thunderstorms, is visible west of this front. Onshore winds are directing areas of low cloud across the southern Australia coastline.
