Tropical Cyclone "Marcus" (Category 1) is located off the coast of the Daly
River Mouth and is moving towards the north Kimberley coast. Heavy rain and
thunderstorm areas are occurring with this system. The monsoon trough extends
from "Marcus" across Torres Strait to a small tropical low over the northwest
Coral Sea. Showers and storms are active about the Gulf of Carpentaria and
northern Peninsula QLD.

Further south, middle and high level cloud is streaming from the Bight across
Victoria and Tasmania with isolated embedded thunderstorm activity. This is due
to a strong jet stream and an upper trough. A strong cold front is advancing
into the Bight with a pronounced pool of cold air behind it as evidenced by the
speckled cloud. Onshore winds are directing showers onto the southern Western
Australia coast.
